In light of some incorrect and irresponsible reporting in the media in past weeks, the Jewish community is once again being unfairly accused of disregarding COVID-19 health and safety measures. This time, it has to do with Canadian Jews crossing the New York-Quebec border to visit their families.
We have met on two occasions with representatives of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to gain a better understanding of the recent issues involving members of the Jewish community and to discuss how we can make border crossing more efficient, safe, and pleasant for everyone involved. The CBSA is well aware that relations have deteriorated and is troubled that the level of distrust has reached the point where some travelers are recording their interactions with officers. Concerned by the lack of civility at border crossings it is committed to working with us in order to improve the situation.
In order to provide better context, we need to hear from you. That is why we are asking you to take a few minutes to complete the survey below.
Ultimately, our goal is to ensure all of us can enter Canada as smoothly and efficiently as possible, particularly during this pandemic.
Thank you in advance for your support.
